Patricia Orr dies at 76

Patricia R. Orr, the mother of a Chesterton resident, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at the Whispering Pines Health Care Center in Valparaiso. A resident of West Lafayette until moving to Valparaiso, she was 76.

She was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Logansport.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy (husband Bob) Cohn of Chesterton; a son, Tom (wife Sakurako) Orr of Japan; a brother, Donald (wife Ruth) Rusk of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Sarah Cohn of Chesterton and Daniel and Christine Orr of Japan.

A memorial service, Pastor Ron Hawkins officiating, is scheduled for 11 a.m. July 2 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in West Lafayette, with interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

Soller-Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Orr graduated from Indiana University and worked as a food supervisor at Purdue University. She was a member of AS Chapter of PEO Sisterhood, Kappa Omicron Nu, National Home Economics honorary, the Community House Association Board of Directors, the Covenant Presbyterian Board of Elders, Homes Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital ladies auxiliaries, the Psi Iota XI sorority, the Alpha Chi Omega sorority alumni group, the Alpha Chi Omega Corporation Board and Advisory Board, the Purdue Women’s Club, the Greater Lafayette Museum of Art. She was also a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Memorial may be made to the charity of choice.
