Opal L. Burney of Porter, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at her
residence. She was 82.
She was born June 12, 1924 in Springfield, Tenn. the daughter of Vernon and
Bernice (Scott) Barrow, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Aug. 3, 1940 in Russellville, Tenn, she married James S. Burney, who
survives in Porter.
She is also survived by children, Martha J. Schuler of Cincinnati, Ohio,
Robert J. (Gina) Burney of St. John, Ind. and Greg Alan Burney of Hammond; a
brother, William (Betty) Barrow of New Chicago, Ind., a sister, Lillian Lane
of Whitehouse, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and eight grandchildren.
She was also preceded by a son, Joseph Wayne Burney and a sister, Frances
Graves.
Mrs. Burney was an area resident since 1977, coming from Calumet City.
Funeral services, Pastor William Barrow officiating, will be at 1 p.m.
Saturday, April 21 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 20 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral
Home.
