Michael Ray Hardin dies at 52

Michael Ray Hardin, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Valparaiso. He was 52.

He was born on April 8, 1955 in Indianapolis, the son of Jesse and Maredia (Brown) Harden.

He was married for 18 years to Jackie Vichinsky, who survives of Portage.

He is also survived by his daughter, Kisha (Daniel) Nuckles of Fortville, Ind.; grandchildren, Danielle, Bethany and Nathaniel; brothers, Jesse (Jessica) Hardin of Indianapolis and Greg (Connie) Hardin of Fairland, Ind.; sisters, Marcia Hardin of Chesterton, Barbara (Gene) Enderlin of Indianapolis and Patricia (Stefan) Berrier of Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nephews and many friends.

Michael was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. He was an area resident for 20 years and worked as an Operating Engineer for Local 150. He was a sub-contractor of Levy for Inland Steel in Gary.

Funeral services, Deacon Robert Bonta officiating, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at the funeral home.
