Mary E. Taubert dies at 78

Mary E. Taubert, of Porter, passed away Feb. 1, 2007 at her residence. She was 78.

She was born Sept. 2, 1928 in Beardstown, Ill. the daughter of Joseph and Lena (Skeens) Krysiak, both of whom preceded her in death.

On March 18, 1950, she married William Taubert, Jr., who preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1976.

She is survived by a son, William. J. (Rea) Taubert III of Porter; two daughters, Susan (Carl) Vrska of Chesterton and Sandy (Jack) Cutler of Evansville; a brother, Mack Wilson of Vincennes; grandchildren, Lisa (Brad) Gaff of Woodridge, Ill. Jaime (Matt) Smith of Erie, Pa., William J. Taubert IV of Indianapolis, Mark and Jonathan Vrska of Bloomington, Jay Cutler of Parker, Colo., Jenna Cutler of Parker, Colo. and Joy Cutler of Oakland City, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Creighton, Corydon, Caius and Conrad Gaff, Noelle and Bennett Smith and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters.

Mary was a self-employed seamstress. She was a charter member and Sunday school teacher of First Christian Church.

A funeral service, Rev. Scott Morris officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at First Christian Church, 1110W. Porter Ave., Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church, Chesterton.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
