Margaret M. Bombassaro dies at 88

Margaret M. Bombassaro, of Chesterton, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 at Whispering Pines Health Care Center, Valparaiso. She was 88.

She was born May 29, 1918 in North Judson, Ind., the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Reiser) Blaschke, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Jan. 27, 1947 in Gary, she married William Bombassaro, who preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1997.

She is survived by a son, William Bombassaro of Lafayette; three daughters, Donna Bombassaro of Valparaiso, Mary Jo (Roy) Palella of Phoenix, Ariz., Victoria (Jon) Williams of Chesterton and Jeanne Bombassaro (Mark Savinski) of Billings, Mont.; two brothers, John Blaschke of Gary and Cyril Blaschke of Hobart; three sisters, Sister M. Dolores Blaschke O.S.F. of Mishawaka, Delores Largura of Valparaiso, Caroline (Stanley) Lesniak of DeMotte; a brother-in-law, Max Loucks of Rolling Prairie, grandchildren, Eric Hasty, Jennifer Pevler, Brian and Bruce Bombassaro, Amy (Dustin) Slinker, Rebecca (Larry) Hughes and great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Aiden Hughes.

She was also preceded by a brother Earl Blaschke and sisters, Joan Mathews and Frances Loucks.

Margaret was a home maker and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Mark’s Rosary Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters Secretary and she worked on Project Commitment in Gary in the 1970s. During WWII she worked at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant. She enjoyed very simple things in life.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Father James Meade officiating, will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 with a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Memorials may be given to St. Agnes Center or Activities Department at Whispering Pines or VNA Hospice of Porter County.
