Lula Mae Hashagen, of Chesterton, passed away Oct. 5, 2007, at VNA Horton
Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 82.
She was born Dec. 6, 1924 in Thorsby, Ala., the daughter of William and Alta
Mae (Hand) Collins, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Oct. 1, 1968 in Lawrence, Ind., she married Richard K. Hashagen, who
survives.
She is also survived by four daughters, Peggy Ann (Bob) Marty of Aurora,
Colo., Lesa Marie Weddle of Polson, Mont., Sandra Kay (Bruce) Mannakee, of
Chesterton and Pamela Jean Young, of Franklin, Ind.; eight grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Floyd
(Margaret) Collins, of Clanton, Ala., James E. (Priscilla) Collins, of
Yorktown, Va., Royce (Jennifer) Collins, of Birmingham, Ala.; four sisters,
Clarice Moss, of Thorsby, Ala., Bennie G. (Sam) Collins, of Thorsby, Ala.,
Deloma Jean (Randall) Price, of Eclectic, Ala. and Deborah (Dana) Robinson,
of Thorsby, Ala.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Collins and a sister, Helen
Jones.
Lula was a controller for the accounting company of First American Title in
Spokane, Wash. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and needle work. Lula and her
husband Dick enjoyed traveling in their earlier years.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Martin Funeral
Home in Clanton, Ala. Interment will be at Thorsby Memorial Cemetery,
Thorsby, Ala.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 10 a.m. until the service at 11
a.m. at the funeral home.
Local arrangements are being handled by White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton.
