Lucille Blakely dies at 91

Lucille M. Blakely, of Michigan City, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the Arbors of Michigan City. She was 91.

She was born March 14, 1916 in New Mexico, the daughter of William and Cora (Brand) Burkes, both of whom preceded her in death.

On Nov. 11, 1933 in Chicago, she married Richard E. Blakely, who preceded her in death in 1976.

She is survived by a son, George (Rita) Blakely of Chesterton, a daughter, Mary Jane (Don) Kamasinski of Michigan City; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Robert Blakely; a daughter, Vernetta Hazzard; brothers, William, Basil, Alvin and Hubert Burkes and sisters, Eunice Schwanke, Cora and Georgia; grandchildren Donald Blakely and Guy Hazzard; great-grandchildren, Nicole Healy and David Madison.

She was a home maker.

A funeral service, Rev. Frederick Hoover officiating, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.
