Lona Florena Potter, of Chesterton, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio and Carter
County, Tenn., passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Porter Valparaiso
Hospital Campus, Valparaiso, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was
70.
She was born Sept. 10, 1936 in Carter County, Tenn. the daughter of Andrew
and Julie (Hartley) Lunceford, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Dec. 19, 1957 in Johnson City, Tenn., she married Lonnie F. Potter, who
survives in Chesterton.
She is also survived by a son, Dennis J. (Debra) Potter of Brunswick Hills,
Ohio; two daughters, Donna J. (Stephen) Rodgers of Michigan City and Wanda
M. (PJ) Sliwa of Delaware, Ohio; a sister, Celia Mae (Ed) Lyons of Johnson
City, Tenn. and one grandson, Alexander Sliwa.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Ann Lambert and four
brothers, Robert, Dewey, Martin and Joe Lunceford.
Lona was a home maker. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with a
special love for animals.
Funeral services, Rev. Kirk Reynolds, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9 at
Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Entombment was a
Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Visitation was Monday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
