Joy (Waugh) O'Donnell dies at 57

Joy M. O’Donnell, 57, of Schererville, formerly of Chesterton, passed away Oct. 22, 2007.

She was born Aug. 3, 1950 in Michigan City, the daughter of Raymond and Janice Waugh, both of whom preceded her in death.

In March 1986, she married Bob O’Donnell, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 21 years.

She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Joanna (late Gary) Waugh; a nephew, Todd Waugh and loving pet, “Josie”.

She was also preceded in death by father-in-law, Robert O’Donnell, Sr. and mother-in-law, Helen O’Donnell.

After attending Chesterton High School and Indiana University, Joy worked at several insurance companies in Chicago. In 1986, she gained employment at an Itasca, Ill. based consulting firm, where she met her husband, Bob. In 1990, Joy partnered with her husband to start a national human resources research firm, O’Donnell Staffing Research, now based in Schererville.

Joy was internationally known to be one of the top Beatle historians. In 1990, she was in a documentary on CBS, 48 Hours. She also loved art history and traveling to England. Joy was known for her charitable heart, sense of humor and compassion for all living things.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, Ill. Cremation will follow.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Calumet Area (a no-kill facility), 421 45th St., Munster, IN 46321.
