Joan Peterson dies at 71

Joan Peterson, of Porter, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago. She was 71.

She was born Jan. 8, 1936 in Anaconda, Mont., the daughter of John and Florence (Homlund) Podobnik, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to Fred G. Peterson, who survives in Porter.

She is also survived by a son, Charles Peterson, three daughters, Cheryl Peterson, Danette (Jon) Dalton, Vicky (Tim) Silhavy; two brothers, John and Joseph Podobnik; a sister, Deborah (Michael) Kunkle; eight grandchildren, Lanna, Dana, Dalton, Michael, Ryan and Stephen Peterson, Alicia and William Silhavy.

She was a home maker. Joan was an avid bowler for years.

A memorial service, Fr. Lawrence Heeg officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation Heritage Crematory, Portage.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials for Joan may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Visiting Nurse Association.
