Jerome 'Jerry' Eagen dies at 63

Jerome “Jerry” C. Eagen, of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. He was 63.

He was born February 23, 1944 in Neenah, Wis. the son of Carl and Christine (Tadych) Eagen.

On Feb. 6, 1984 in Valparaiso, he married Peggy J. Lorenz, who survives in Valparaiso.

He is also survived by mother and father in law, Robert and Louise Lorenz of Chesterton; daughters, Jennifer (John) Watkins of Valparaiso, Julianne (Tim) Rajski of Portage, Diana Eagen of Portage; a step-daughter, Michelle (Warren) Smith of LaPorte; a step-son, Craig (Vivian) Woosley of Chesterton; a twin brother, James (Barbara) Eagen of Portage; a sister, Kathleen Carlson of Porter and a sister-in-law, Bobbie (George) Estill of Valparaiso; 10 grandchildren, Brittany Bezotte, Carly Wireman, Courtney and Austin Handley, Joanna Eagen, Rebecca, Bianca and Skylar Woosley, Ronald Geer and Sasha Bentancourt; one great-grandchild, William Buchanan III and numerous nieces and nephews and step nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a heavy equipment operator for NIPSCO (retired). He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Chesterton American Legion Post 170 and Valparaiso V.F.W.

Funeral services, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Cremation will follow services at Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of American Legion Service at 5 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
