Jeanne Gland, of Chesterton, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007 at VNA Horton
Hospice Center, Valparaiso. She was 82.
She was born July 13, 1924 in Chesterton, the daughter of Earl R. and Edna A.
(Waugh) Samilson, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 60 plus years, William Gland, of
Chesterton.
She is also survived by two daughters, Pamela Buss of Elkhart and Robin Gland
of Columbia, Mo.; a grandson, Robert Buchwalter, of Columbia, Mo.; a
granddaughter, Brande Buss of Indiana, Pa. and a great-grandson, Patrick
Buchwalter, serving in the U.S. Navy.
A life-long resident, Jeanne was well known in the area, having worked with
Town Engineer Chet Stemp for a number of years, then spent nine years with
Hook’s Drug Store. She was a life-member and past-president of Porter VFW
Post #2511 Auxilliary She was a past Indiana State President of Fraternal
Order of Eagles, and a member of F.O.E. #2517, Valparaiso.
Jeanne was past-president of Chesterton Women’s Bowling Association. In the
early 60s, she was a State Bowling Champion.
Funeral services, Pastor Terry C. Rhine officiating, will be at 10 a.m.
Friday, April 13 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.
Interment will be in Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 12 from 4-8 p.m. at
White-Love Funeral Home. VFW Post #2511 Auxilliary will hold a Memorial
Service Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
