Harry Robert Hubbs dies at 77

“Bob” Harry Robert Hubbs, of Dune Acres, passed away Sept. 19, 2007 at Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 77.

He was born May 26, 1930 in San Francisco, Calif., the son of Harry Coffin and Margaret (Vicini) Hubbs, both of whom preceded him in death.

On June 19, 1960 in Winamac, Ind., he married Beverly Lebo, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Rob (Susana Measelle) Hubbs; a daughter, Heather Hubbs and three grandchildren, Aidan, Jude and Freya Hubbs.

Bob served as a First Lieutenant for the Army Chemical Corps and was discharged in 1961. He held a B.S. in chemical engineering from Stanford University.

He was a member of Liberty Bible Church, where he was in Bible study and visited the homebound of the church. He was in chemical sales for the Niacet Corporation, Niagara Falls, N.Y. for 44 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed history, geography, politics, golfing and he volunteered teaching at a women’s prison in Perryville, Ariz.

Memorial services, Michael Sutton officiating, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at Dune Acres Clubhouse.

Memorials may be given to Kids Alive International USA, 2507 Cumberland Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46383 and Horton Hospice Center, 2404 Valparaiso St., Valparaiso, IN 46383.

White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St. Chesterton is in charge of arrangements.
