Floyd Paul Jones dies at 76

Floyd Paul Jones, 76, of West Frankfort, IL, died at 2:36 a.m. Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Regional Health Center, Mt. Vernon, IL.

Mr. Jones was born December 25, 1930 in Thompsonville, IL, the son of Johnnie Wesley Jones and Ola Jane (Harris) Jones. He married the former Betty Braden on December 18, 1954 and she survives.

Floyd was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a retired union carpenter, and a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 1485in LaPorte, IN. He enjoyed woodworking and walking with his friends at the VF Factory Outlet Mall in West Frankfort, IL.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Betty Jones, West Frankfort, IL, Kimberly Thompson and companion Douglas Woolum, LaPorte, IN, two sons, Kenneth Jones and wife Laurie, Las Vegas, NV, Kerry Jones and wife Doranne, Porter, IN, two grandsons, Jason Powell and wife Linda, Ferndale, MI, Paul Jones, Porter, IN, four step-grandsons, Tony Carew, Las Vegas, NV, Josh, Chris, Trevor Woolum, all of LaPorte, IN, one great-granddaughter, Briana Powell, Ferndale, MI, two sisters, Mildred Elpers, Evansville, IN, Fannie Kern, Nashville, TN, one brother, Thomas Alfred Jones, Grovertown, IN, and several nieces an nephews.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Willie, Dick, and George Jones, and one sister, Stella Neal.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Mark Jordan officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion, Thompsonville, IL with military rites performed by the West Frankfort American Legion and V.F.W.
