Elizabeth R. Ren, of Melbourne, Fla. retired registered nurse in private
duty at HRMC, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007. She was 96.
She was born in Chesterton.
Survivors include her daughters, Katherine (Dick) Wakefield of Sarasota,
Fla. and Judy (Dan) Van Slyke of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren, Dan
(Tracey) Van Slyke, Kerri (James) Gillyard and Brooks (Audrey) Wakefield and
great granddaughter Emily.
Elizabeth was a former Sunday School Teacher at the Presbyterian Church of
The Good Shepherd in Melbourne, past president of local chapter of the AARP
and served on the committee that Started the South Brevard Senior Citizens
Center. She was a member of the American Nurses Association and Nurse of the
Year for the State of Florida in 1987, member of the Silver Haired
Legislation and the SHINE Program (Seniors Helping Insurance Needs of the
Elderly), and active in the Republican Party.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the White-Love
Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Interment will be in Chesterton
Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
