Edgar R. Richards, of Lowell, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 at VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was 69.

He was born July 26, 1938 in Fordsville, Ky. the son of Kermit and Jean (Boling) Richards, both of whom preceded him in death.

On May 5, 1961 in Hammond, he married Ann Yates, who survives in Chesterton.

He is also survived by a son, Christopher (Tamara) Richards of Chesterton; a daughter, Melissa (Robert) Reyes of Cedar Lake; a sister, Joan (Mike) Svirovecz of Dyer; grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Richards, Sydney and Claire Reyes.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Richards.

He was employed as a shipping manager for Inland Steel retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Inland 25 year club.

There will be no services. Cremation Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Horton Hospice Center or to the Advocates for Autisim in Indiana.
