Carl J. Williams dies at 78

Carl J. Williams, of Chesterton, passed away Sunday June 10, 2007 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City. He was 78.

He was born Feb. 21, 1929 in Valparaiso, the son of Frank and Anna (Lesser) Williams, both of whom preceded him in death.

On June 19, 1955 in Chesterton, he married Cora L. Anderson, who preceded him in death April 4, 1990.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue Ann (Tim) Burns of Ariz. and Cheryl (Trent) McKinster of N.C.; special friend, Patsy Tiemann of Valparaiso; two grandchildren, Mason and Colin McKinster.

Carl was a supervisor at U.S. Steel Water Treatment Plant. He was part of the family at Chesterton First United Methodist Church. Carl served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of River Point Supervisor’s Club and the Chesterton Moose Lodge. He was a lover of nature, an active reader and responsible citizen. He also was the former owner of the Dairy Barn in Chesterton.

Funeral services, Rev. Terry Rhine officiating, will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 19 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday and on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to The Kidney Foundation or First United Methodist Church.
