Betty A. Gembala, 77, of Trail Creek, peacefully passed away Friday, July 6,
2007 at 9:20 p.m. at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso.
She was born Aug. 9, 1929 in Oklahoma.
On Feb. 11, 1946 in Cheyene, Wyo., she married Joseph S. Gembala, who
preceded her in death Jan. 20, 2001.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Maddox of Michigan City; three
grandchildren, Douglas Maddox of Valparaiso, Laura (Daniel) Huss of LaPorte
and Gregory Flesher of New Port Beach, Calif.; two great-grandchildren,
Joseph and Megan Huss of LaPorte and son-in-law, Okey Flesher of Trail Creek
and brother-in-law, Walt (Pat) Gembala of Cedar Lake.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Flesher and a
granddaughter, Kristine Maddox.
Betty’s most enjoyable hobby was reading. She loved the soothing sound of
wind chimes, a gentle warm breeze and the sounds of a wren when summer
approached. Thanks to the kindness and loving care she received at the VNA
Hospice Center in Valparaiso, her final wishes were carried out.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at Root Funeral Home. Interment
will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Root Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Maddox, Greg Flesher, Dan Huss, Tim Gembala,
Chris Clement and Andy Allen.
Memorials may be given to VNA Hospice Center, 501 Marquette St., Valparaiso,
IN 46383.
