Barbara J. (Brown) Snemis, 72, of Porter, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007.
She was born Sept. 4, 1934 in Coshocton, Ohio, the daughter of James M. and
Mary L. Brown, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel Snemis and David (Brighitte) Snemis; a
daughter, Cathy J. Wulfing; four brothers, James (Betty) Brown of Crown
Point, William (Pat) Brown of Hebron, John (Maria) Brown of Hobart, Joe
(Karen) Brown of Crown Point; three sisters, Mary (John) OnOff of Portage,
Carolyn Brown of Las Vegas, Nev., Margaret (Richard) Moseley; five
grandchildren, Melisa Krisco of Chicago, Alyson Strom of Chesterton, Remy,
Martina, Dominic Snemis of Valparaiso, several nieces, nephews and family
members and numerous cousins in Okla.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Brown and a niece
Colleen Brown.
Mrs. Snemis was a graduate of Tolleston High School class of 1952. She was
employed at United Tractor for 16 years. She was a proud member of the
Cherokee Nation of Tahlequah, Okla. She enjoyed traveling, her grandchildren,
her family, cooking and sharing recipes.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at
the funeral home. Cremation will be at Heritage Crematory, Portage.
