Anton C. Shipla dies at 95

Anton C. Shipla, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 at his home. He was 95.

He was born May 9, 1912 in Friendship, Wis., the son of the late Anton and Mary (Linhart) Sipla.

On March 9, 1976, he married Alice Elaine Elben, who survives in Portage.

He is also survived by sons, Donald Bacon and Tom (Carolyn) Shipla; daughters, Antoinette (Jerry) Salyer of Pa. and Debbie (Greg) Allen of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Anthony, Heather, Roxanne, Brandon, Emily, Samantha and Brandi and numerous great grandchildren.

Anton was a area resident since 1969 and owned a body repair shop.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Cremation by Heritage Crematory, Portage.

Friends may meet with family Saturday from 5 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
