Agatha Talbot Rathbun, 56, of Chesterton, formerly of Michigan City, passed
away Dec. 30, 2006 at 11:56 p.m. in her home.
She was born Aug. 19, 1950 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the daughter of the late
Francis F. and Florence (O’Donoghue) Talbot, M.D.
On June 24, 1978, in Lewiston, N.Y., She married Darrel M. “Rusty” Rathbun
who preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Sean Marsh (Sara Wiggins) Rathbun of Michigan
City, and Brian Talbot Rathbun of Chesterton; two sisters, Mary (Neal)
Talbot Sumrall of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Helen (Steven) Talbot Rubin of
Monterey, Calif.; a brother, Francis F. (Jane) Talbot of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.;
six nieces and three nephews; beloved companion, Jim Keith of Chesterton and
beloved pet, Minnie.
She worked for 33 years as a Medical Technologist at Alverno Clinical Labs.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from St. Mary of the
Woods in 1972.
She was a member of Queen of All Saint’s Catholic Church. She was a devoted
mother who loved traveling, reading, volleyball, and was involved with Boy
Scouts.
Funeral services, Rev. Lou Pasala officiating, will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Friday, Jan. 5, at the Queen of All Saint’s Catholic Church. Interment will
follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Ott/Haverstock
Funeral Chapel. A wake service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday in the
chapel.
