Norma Jean Himmel of Porter, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 at Porter
Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Valparaiso. She was 66.
She was born Aug. 9, 1940 in Chesterton, the daughter of Willis C. Parker,
who preceded her in death and Georgia M. Parker, who survives in Chesterton.
On Oct. 2, 1959 at the First Assembly of God Church in Chesterton, she
married Karl D. Himmel, who survives in Porter.
She is also survived by two sons, Brian and Stephen Himmel, both of Union
Grove, Wis.; a daughter, Karen Himmel of Porter; six sisters, Carol (Paul)
Pinkley of Rapid City, S.D., Rebecca (Frank) Heiner of Chesterton, Sue (Jay)
Ogel of Wheeler, Betty Parker of Chesterton, Patricia Parker of Dallas,
Texas and Judy Parker of Chesterton; three brothers, Ken (Vicki) Parker of
San Diego, Calif., Keith (Vanessa) Parker of Chesterton and Kevin (Julie)
Parker of Westville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma was a devoted and loving mother to her children especially her two
sons, Brian and Stephen, who now reside at Shepherds Ministries in Union
Grove, Wis. She attended New Life Wesleyan Church, Chesterton and attended
the Ladies Bible Study Group.
She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and sisters and attending stage
plays in Chicago. Norma also worked with Kay Gersna doing bookkeeping for
several years.
Funeral services, Pastor Mike Cloud officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Monday,
Dec. 18 at New Life Wesleyan Church, 75 E. 1100N. Chesterton. Interment will
be at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at White-Love Funeral
Home, 525 S. 2nd St. Chesterton and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of
service at 11 a.m. at the Church. The family prefers memorials to Shepherds
Ministries, 1805 15th Ave., Union Grove, WI 53182-1597.
