William A. Pacholke, of Porter, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005 at St. Anthony Memorial Medical Center, Michigan City. He was 69.

He was born May 16, 1936 in Michigan City, the son of Leo Paul and Lavina “Nina” O’Donnell Pacholke, both of whom preceded him in death.

On June 16, 1962 at St. Mary’s Church, Michigan City, he married Nancy J. Pliske, who survives in Porter.

He is also survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Steven) Whybrew of Porter; three grandchildren, Samantha, Rachel and Jennifer; a brother, James (Laverne) Pacholke of Michigan City; a sister-in-law, Gladys Pacholke of South Bend; father-in-law, John Pliske of Porter and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lee.

Bill was a member of St. Patrick Church, Chesterton, where he was Choir Director for the Traditional Choir. He was a member of the Parish Council and President of St. Pat’s Senior Group and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #5929, Chesterton, 4th Degree Member Fr. Sorin Assembly, Valparaiso.

Bill was a Charter Member of Chesterton Moose Lodge #1623, Chesterton. He retired from Mid-West Steel, where he was employed in the Customer Service department. He was a Lunch Papa at St. Pat’s School, where he helped the children. His love of music was reflected in his organ playing at Mass at several area churches. He was a member of Tonemaster Band which played in the area in the 1970s. An avid reader, Bill enjoyed HO trains and old cars.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Fr. James Meade officiating, will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton. Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to St. Patrick School.
