Stephen Ralph “Mitch” Mitchell, 73, died May 21, 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Cheek Mitchell; step-daughters, Marilyn Wolske, Susan Eckberg and Shirley Arnold; step-son Fred Cheek; sisters Mary Hutchens and Sheila Daly and grandchildren.

He graduated from Chesterton High School in 1950. He was a 1957 graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He began working for the U.S. Government as an agent in the Department of Justice and later as an agent in the Treasury Department. After leaving the Government, he worked as a Systems Analyst for the Indiana Department of Correction.

He was a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Murat Shrine. He also belonged to many service related organizations.
