Geneva 'Jenny' Buzalski dies at 94

Geneva “Jenny” Buzalski, of Valparaiso, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005 at Whispering Pines Health Care Center. She was 94.

She was born March 29, 1911 in Starke County the daughter of Alfred and Adeline Harness, both of whom preceded her in death.

On March 4, 1930 she married Anthony “Tony” Buzalski, who preceded her in death March 18, 1963.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Whitcomb and Rosemary Franks of Valparaiso; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Buzalski of Chesterton; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Alfred Harness of Kingsford Heights and a sister, Viola Ludtke of Walkerton.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Miller; a son, Sonny Buzalski; a granddaughter; two great-grandsons; four brothers and three sisters.

Ms. Buzalski was employed for many years at Hayes Grocery in Valparaiso and was the owner for 25 years of Tony’s Tavern in Michigan City.

Funeral services, Rev. Brenda Ludwig officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 26, 2005 at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St., Valparaiso. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005 at Bartholomew Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to Whispering Pines Health Care Center.
