Frances Ruthenberg (Cwiakala), 56, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Chesterton, passed away at her home Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005 following a long illness.

She was born Dec. 5, 1949 in Michigan City, the daughter of Frank and Celia Elenor (Tyler) Cwiakala, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Ronald; daughters, Julie Marie Wigent and Amy Elizabeth Ruthenberg (Cwiakala) of Chesterton; sisters, Mary Ann Rasmussen of Lake Village, Ind., Patricia (Don) Sutton of Porter and Jean (David) McLachian of Olathe, Kan.; a brother Bruce (Marcee) Cwiakala of Westerville, Ind.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Frances has lived in Akron for the last 20 years. She had worked as Office manager for Seese/Sveda Construction. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Parish. She also belonged to the VFW Post 8975 Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Vincent-St. Mary Booster Club.

She was a 1967 graduate of Chesterton High School and worked for many years at Manley Brothers before moving to Akron.

A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted Wednesday at Annunciation Catholic Church. Interment was at the Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Visitation was at the Dunn Quigley Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 811 Grant St., Akron.

Memorials may be made to the VFW Combs-Comedy Cancer Fund, 35 E. Chestnut St., Ste. 411, Columbus, OH 43215, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School or to Annunciation Catholic Church.

Correction: The name of Rita Cwiakala of Chesterton, step-mother of Frances Ruthenberg, was omitted from the obituary of Frances Ruthenberg in Thursday’s paper.
