Former Jackson Township resident Michael D. Camel, 46, died Saturday, Nov.
13, 2004, at his home in Beverly Shores.
He was born Jan. 20, 1958, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Leroy (wife Karen)
Camel Jr. of Michigan and Dorothy Babb (husband Del) Bradow of Clinton
Township, Mich.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Bakkila of Beverly Shores; a son, Eric
Camel of Beverly Shores; a daughter, Liz (husband Frank) Gast of Phoenix,
Ariz.; two brothers, Lee (wife Cheryle) Camel of Sante Cruz, Calif., and Tom
(wife Chris) Camel of Farmington, Mich.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins,
nieces, and nephews; and faithless four-legged companion Quincy.
Camel was a self-employed engineer and the owner of Dolphin Inc., belonged
to St. John United Church and served as a deacon there, and was the founder
of Duneland Diamond Baseball.
Funeral services, the Rev. Nancy Kahaian officiating, are scheduled for 10
a.m. Thursday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton.
Cremation will follow the services at Heritage Crematory in Portage.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at
Edmonds & Evans.
