The son of a Chesterton resident, Michael Allen Hrapek, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at his residence, while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. He was 59.

He was born Aug. 15, 1945 in Marshfield, Wis., the son of Crystal Marie Jensen Hrapek of Chesterton and the late Joseph Chester Hrapek.

He is also survived by his wife, Maxine Moon Gallion Hrapek of Berkeley Springs; four daughters, Shannon Hrapek, Charlotte Hrapek, Elizabeth Hrapek and Rachel Hrapek, all of Indiana; two sons, Joshua Hrapek and Joseph Hrapek, both of Indiana; three step-children, Frederick B. Gallion of Hagerstown, Md., Victoria Lynn Ash of Berkeley Springs and Robert V. Gallion of Prince Georges, Va.; one sister, Joann Gombos, of Schererville; one brother, Paul (Sue) Hrapek of Fort Meade, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

He was of the Protestant faith. He was a 1965 graduate of Chesterton High School. He was a retired gas meter mechanic with Northern Indiana Public Service Company. He was an avid HAM radio operator and a member of AARP.

He was a Naval veteran of the Viet Nam War.

Funeral services, Rev. Robert S. Osborne officiating, were conducted Saturday, Oct. 16 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Interment was at Queens Meadow Point Cemetery, Keyser, W.Va.
