Update: The family of Helen V. Pillman will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.

Helen V. Pillman, of Chesterton, died Saturday, Oct. 9. 2004 at the waters of Duneland, Chesterton. She was 80.

She was born Aug. 9, 1924 in Gary, the daughter of James and Kathryn (Lane) Walter, both of whom preceded her in death.

On May 3, 1952 in Hobart, she married J. Warren Pillman, who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1995.

She is survived by two sons, James W. Pillman of Porter and John W. (Annemarie) Pillman of Greenwood, S.C.; three grandchildren, Heather Pillman, Nicholas Pillman and Andrew Pillman, all of Greenwood, S.C.; two brothers, Thomas (Helen) Walter of Hobart and John (Shirley) Walter of Hausville, Texas; two sisters Kathleen Kemp of Merrillville and Mary (Tom) Hockman of Detroit Lakes, Minn. and dedicated care giver, Zofia Zemanek.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Walter.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Seniors Group of the Church. She was a member of the Better Living Guild. She was employed in the 1970s as a receptionist at Dr. Hurst’s Dental Office.

A Mass of Christian Burial, Rev. James Meade officiating, will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.

Memorials may be given to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Chesterton.
