A 17-year-old boy
listed as a missing person by the Valparaiso Police Department was taken
into custody on Friday after he tried to start a fire on a South Shore
train, the NICTD Transit Police said.

that the youth was a ‘missing person’ wanted by the Valparaiso Police
Department,” Transit Police said.
The boy also
exhibited signs of impairment and was transported to St. Catherine Hospital
in East Chicago, where he was put under observation, Transit Police said.
Charges will be
referred to the Lake County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review of
possible delinquency charges against the boy.
