Westbound service was expected to resume at mid-morning today after a
derailment in Michigan City forced the suspension of six South Shore
commuter trains due to arrive in Chicago between 7:21 a.m. and 8:52 a.m.,
the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District said. No one was
injured in the derailment.
Westbound service was expected to resume with Train 14, scheduled to arrive
in Chicago at 10:28 a.m., with a delay of approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Eastbound service was expected to resume with Train 7, due to depart Chicago
at 8:45 a.m. That train was around 30 minutes late.
Metra Electric was honoring South Shore ticketed passengers who rode Metra
this morning.
NICTD apologized for the inconvenience.
