Bus Authority launches call center

Back to Front Page

The Northwest Indiana Regional Bus Authority has set up a new EasyGo Call Center with provider South Lake County Community Services, Inc.

Porter County has two demand-response providers and a system operated by the city of Valparaiso, while Lake County has three fixed-route transit operators and two demand response operators. Several taxi and medical transport providers in addition to the South Shore trains and PACE buses also serve the region.

Each provider’s service areas and routes are different, as are their hours of operation and fare structure. With the new call center, staff can arrange the different schedules to help individuals get to their destination. In one case, a man staying in a Merrillville hotel who wanted to get to Chicago used the call center, which arranged for him to use the Gary bus system and the South Shore commuter service.

The Call Center is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and may be contacted by phone, fax or email. Call toll-free at 877-5EASYGO (532.7946), fax 219-663-4531 or email callcenter@slccs.com
