Local resident Thomas Lee will make the wreath presentation Sunday, July 29
at the ceremony of the 40th anniversary of the fire aboard the USS Forrestal.
This carrier had just arrived in Viet Nam when a fire aboard occurred causing
the death of 134 crewmen. Local sailor, William C. Lee, was among the dead.
William’s twin brother, Thomas Lee, also was on board this carrier during the
fire. Thomas survived and has lived in this area all his life.
He traveled to Washington DC this week to participate in the Memorial Service
to be held at the Viet Nam Memorial Wall.
The ceremony will include the active Navy Color Guard.
