Lakeshore Public Television has announced Westchester Township History Museum
will showcase the station’s WWII Hoosier Veterans Photography Exhibit, “Of
Men and Mission,” through April 30.
The museum is located at 700 West Porter Avenue in Chesterton. “Of Men and
Mission” is free and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 1 to 5
p.m. The Westchester Township History Museum is an educational service of
Westchester Public Library.
Westchester Township History Museum is the fifth stop in Northwest Indiana
for this traveling photo exhibit. The tour schedule includes May, Portage
Library, Portage and June-July, Valparaiso University, Christopher Center,
Valparaiso.
Through the commissioned photography of Pete Doherty, Lakeshore Public
Television captured the veterans in portrait form during live interviews that
were conducted as part of the station’s recent World War II outreach
initiative. Lakeshore Public Television worked closely with our region’s very
own World War II veterans to explore the history of our nation’s Second World
War through the personal recollections of these local heroes.
These memoirs will be featured in a documentary, which is in progress and
expected to air on Lakeshore PTV in Fall 2008.
Lakeshore PTV can be viewed over the air and on satellite through DirecTV and
Dish Network on Channel 56, on cable on channel 17 in most Northwest Indiana
communities, and on 17 and 21 in Chicago and its suburbs. For more
