Meeting in special session Monday, the Westchester Public Library Board
announced it’s still accepting applications for a vacancy on that board.
The actual appointment to fill the remaining one-year term of Karen Nash,
who resigned in November, will be made by the Duneland School Board but it’s
seeking a recommendation from the Library Board.
Its president, Vern Odom, said Nash lives in Porter and although residency
there isn’t required, it would be nice for someone from Burns Harbor, Dune
Acres or Porter to replace her on the seven-member board.
The only requirements for appointment is that the person be a resident of
Westchester Township for at least two years and have an interest in library
services; board membership is an unpaid position.
Interest in the appointment should be directed to WPL library director Phil
Baugher at phil@wpl.lib.in.us
or
to his office at 926-7696. The Library Board convenes Thursday at 7 p.m. at
Thomas Library in Chesterton for its monthly meeting and will discuss the
status of the applications at that time. Also on the agenda is adoption of a
gaming policy for the new Wii gaming system installed at Hageman Library in
Porter.
