Get Caught Reading at Westchester Public Library!

Celebrate reading this summer by submitting a photo of you or someone you know reading or get “caught” reading by library staff at Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton, or Hageman Library, 100 Francis St., Porter, during regular library hours.

Photographs may be submitted to the circulation desk at either branch through August 31.

First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded for the best photos. All ages are invited to participate.

Each individual in the submitted photograph must sign a separate photo release form to be submitted with the photograph. A parent or legal guardian must sign a photo release form for minor children. The form may be found on the library website, wpl.lib.in.us, under Library Plans, Policies and Postings, or may be picked up from the circulation desk at either library.

A Rules and Entry Details sheet is available at any service desk at both branches.

Patrons must include their name and telephone number on the back of the photo release form(s) upon submission of a photograph, turning in photograph and release(s) together. Also include the full name of everyone in the photo on the back of the release form.

Those who prefer to submit a photo by email may do so. Attach a .jpg to programming@wpl.lib.in.us with the subject line “photo contest.” A scan of the signed photo release form(s) must also be attached to the email.

By submitting a photograph, patrons agree that they will only submit a photo to which they hold ownership rights (violators will be automatically disqualified from the contest and their photograph will not be displayed). Photos submitted without a completed photo release form (for each individual in the photo) will also be disqualified and will not be displayed.

The library will contact the winners by telephone in September. Winners’ names and photographs may be published. Photographs may be on display on the second floor of Thomas Library, but the library reserves the right to exclude or include any photos that are submitted.

Photographs will not be returned, so please do not submit the only copy or the original of the photograph.

For more information, call Thomas Library at 926-7696 or Hageman Library at 926-9080.
