NOTICE OF PUBLIC
HEARING
PROPOSED
DEVELOPMENT STANDARD VARIANCE
Notice is hereby
given that the Board of Zoning Appeals of the County of Porter, Indiana will
hold a public hearing on the 21st of September, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the
Porter County Administration Center, 155 Indiana Avenue, Suite 205,
Valparaiso, Indiana, to consider the petition of Porter County Animal
Shelter, 2056 Heavilin Road, Valparaiso is requesting a Developmental
Standards Variance from the Unified Development Ordinance, to vary the
following Sections: 5.49; SI-04 Office and Institution
A. Single Tenant.
d. Ground Signs
i. Area: 46
square feet - increase size to 80 square feet.
ii. Maximum
Height: 8 feet - increase height to 12 feet.
iii. Maximum
number: one (1) - increase to two (2); Highway and Emergency Management have
signs for their buildings on the one Commissioner parcel.
A. Single Tenant:

iii. Physical
Characteristics: electronic signs not allowed: request is to allow for an
electronic sign.

Standards: B. Permanent Development Identification Sign:
i. Ground Sign;
sign will be on a short pole; sign not to exceed 12 feet in total height.
iii. Maximum
Height; Eight (8) feet - increase to 12 feet
IV. Maximum
Setback: 20 feet from the right-of-way line - request 5 feet from
right-of-way line and sign will not be placed in clear zone triangle.
viii, Materials:
Base of sign must be brick, stone or decorative block - waive requirement.
LEGAL
DESCRIPTION: A parcel of land in the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest
Quarter of Section 26, Township 35 North, Range 6 West, being all that
parcel lying South of State Highway No. 2. Containing approximately 7 acres,
more or less.
GENERAL LOCATION:
A parcel of land located at 2056 Heavilin Road, in Center Township, Porter
County, Indiana.

suggestions to said proposed Variance may be filed with the Executive
Director of the Porter County Plan Commission before such public hearing
and/or verbal statements relating thereto will be heard at the
above-designated time and place. A copy of the file is available for public
view at the Plan Commission office.
