NOTICE TO BIDDERS
The Board of
Commissioners of the County of Porter will receive sealed bids for the
installation of concrete sidewalk along CR 700N, Eagle Creek Rd, Mc Cool Rd.
and Nantucket Rd. in South Haven in the Auditor's office, 155 Indiana
Avenue, Valparaiso, Indiana until 4:00 P.M. prevailing local time on July 2,
2010.
Bids shall
include all labor, materials, and services necessary to complete the project
in strict accordance with the contract documents now on file in the
following office:

A NON-REFUNDABLE
DEPOSIT OF $10.00 PER SET IS REQUIRED.
Bid documents and
all addenda issued hereto as a result of the deposit paid shall become the
property of the bidder and need not be returned.
Bids shall be
itemized and all signatures must include the corporate position of the
signer, and shall be properly notarized.
Bids must be
submitted on Form 96 (revised 2000), entirely completed, signed and
notarized, with the Non-Collusion Affidavit signed and notarized, as
required by law. Bidders shall accompany Form 96 with an entirely completed
and properly executed Bid Form included with the Contract Documents. A Bid
Bond or a Certified Check equal to 10% of the maximum bid must accompany
each bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish separate
Performance and Payment Bonds to the full amount of said contract, and
Certificates of Insurance covering Workmen's Compensation, Public Liability
and Property Damage, before the contract can be signed and issued.
Any project that
may require creation of a trench of at least five (5) feet of depth is
subject to complying with IOSHA regulations 29 C.F.R. 1926, Subpart P, for
trench safety systems. The cost for trench safety systems shall be included
in the pay item of the principal work with which the safety systems are
associated.
The successful
bidder must submit his Federal Identification Number to the Porter County
Highway Department, at the time he signs the contract. In the absence of an
F.I.N., he must submit his Social Security Number.
No fee will be
charged for permits required and issued by Porter County for work done on
Porter County Commissioner's owned property.
An out-of-state
Contractor will have Indiana State Gross Income Tax withheld by Porter
County, unless he can show proof that he is registered with the Indiana
Secretary of State to conduct business in the State of Indiana.
No exceptions or
alternates to these plans and specifications will be accepted unless
otherwise noted. Bids shall not be modified, withdrawn or canceled for a
period of forty five (45) calendar days commencing from the date bids are
received without the Owner's written consent.
The Board of
Commissioners reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids, waive all
informalities or irregularities in bidding and to re-advertise.
Wage rates on
this Project have not been established due to the anticipated actual
construction costs.
The bids for this
project will be opened in the Commissioner's Office, 155 Indiana Avenue,
Valparaiso, Indiana at 6:00 P.M. prevailing local time on July 6, 2010.
