NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Chesterton, Indiana, will receive sealed bids until 7:00 p.m., local time, May 10, 2010, for the furnish and apply of hot asphalt concrete pavement on certain designated streets. Sealed bids must be submitted to the office of the Chesterton Clerk-Treasurer at 726 Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana 46304. The bids will be opened at the Chesterton Town Council meeting which begins at 7:00 p.m. on May 10, 2010 at 726 Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana 46304.

7,000 tons or less furnish and apply of asphalt concrete pavement on certain designated streets. List of streets to be determined.

Price per ton surface base and binder. Tack coat price per gallon furnish and apply. Price for asphalt milling, approximately 24,000 yds. of asphalt milling on certain designated roads. Limited millings shall be delivered by the contractor to the Street Department at 609 Grant Avenue or within three (3) miles one way from work site. Roads that are milled are to be swept by Contractor. Roads that have milled tie-in joints are also to be cleaned by Contractor.

All surface shall be 9.5 mm per INDOT specifications.

All new pavement shall have a butt joint tie-in at existing pavement.

All work shall be in accordance with the Town Standards and the Indiana Department of Transportation Specifications, latest editions. In the event of a conflict, the most restrictive requirements shall apply.

The Contractor and any Subcontractor shall be registered with the Town of Chesterton.

Contractor shall proceed with work within fifteen working days after notification by the Street Commissioner.

All bids must be on a State of Indiana approved form, and accompanied by: (a) Indiana State Form 96, (b) non-collusion affidavit; and (c) bid bond payable to the Town of Chesterton in an amount equal to at least five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid.

A payment bond and performance bond in amounts equal to the bid, in a form acceptable to the Town Council, shall be required of the successful bidder.

The Town Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive defects in bids, and to re-advertise for bids if deemed appropriate in the sole discretion of the Council.
