NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Notice is hereby given that the Chesterton Town Council will receive sealed bids at the Office of the Chesterton Clerk-Treasurer up to 4:00 p.m. (prevailing local time) on April 12, 2010 for the demolition of two (2) outbuildings and construction of a salt storage building and cold storage building on a parcel of land owned by the Town of Chesterton at the northeast corner of the intersection of 15th Street and Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana.

The bids must include all labor, tool, and equipment necessary to the construction of the above-referenced project. Any bids submitted late will be returned to the Bidder unopened. Thereafter, the bids will be opened publicly and read aloud at a meeting of the Chesterton Town Council to be held at 7:00 p.m. on April 12, 2010.

Drawings, technical specifications, project manual and all bid documents for this project are on file for review in the Office of the Chesterton Clerk-Treasurer, 726 Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana 46304. Copies of the drawings, technical specifications, project manual and bid documents may be purchased at the office of the Architect, Chester, Inc., 555 Eastport Centre Drive, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383 upon payment of the $75.00 reproduction cost.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at the site of the Project on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. (prevailing local time). All bidders are required to attend.

Contractors and subcontractors are required to pay the prevailing wage rate established for this project in accordance with Indiana law.

All bids shall be submitted on the Town of Chesterton’s Bid Form and shall be accompanied by a bid bond, cashiers or certified check payable to the Town of Chesterton in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid amount.

The Chesterton Town Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive minor defects in bids, or to re-advertise for bids.
