MISHAWAKA, Ind. (AP) — Northern Indiana police say a 54-year-old man
riding a bicycle died after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
WSBT-TV reports Timothy Grant of Mishawaka, east of South Bend, was
heading to work with a red flashing light on his bike when he was struck
by a vehicle in St. Joseph County east of Penn High School.
Witnesses told police a driver of Dodge Charger sped away and hit a car.
Police say 22-year-old Brandon Gonzalez of Mishawaka faces preliminary
charges of hit-and-run leaving the scene of an accident resulting in
death, operating while intoxicated causing death and leaving the scene
after operating while intoxicated causing death.
He was being held the Saturday at the St. Joseph County Jail. He is
scheduled to appear in court Monday.
