The Indiana Senate unanimously passed a bill authored by State Rep. Chuck
Moseley, D-Portage, to improve the care provided to employees getting
treatment through worker’s compensation.
H.B. 1116 would prohibit an employer or employer’s insurance carrier from
delaying emergency medical treatment for worker’s compensation injuries or
occupational disease disablements.
“Think of how much permanent disability could be avoided by allowing quick
and efficient care of workers,” Moseley said in a press release. “Improving
the worker’s compensation system could not only improve the treatment
received by a worker after an accident but could save the state and
taxpayers millions by decreasing the amount of permanent disability in this
state.”
The bill now returns to the Indiana House for Moseley to concur with the
amendments made in the Senate.
