Wednesday story on Molly's Hill wrong twice

Back To Front Page

Katie Rizer, executive director of the Coffee Creek Watershed Conservancy, is appreciative of the grassroots effort of a group of neighbors to “save” Molly’s Hill, that is, to raise funds enough to purchase the hill located just south of Phillips Pond and preserve it in perpetuity from development.

But Rizer wants folks to know that a press statement released by the neighbors--and subsequently run on the front page of Wednesday’s edition of the Chesterton Tribune--was incorrect on two material points.

First, the Lake Erie Land Company does not--repeat, does not--own the parcel in question. The title to that property is actually held by CPG Holding LLL in Illinois, Rizer informed the Tribune.

And second, should anyone wish to donate money to the cause, send it to this address: Coffee Creek Watershed Conservancy Inc., PO Box 802, Chesterton, IN 46304. The address listed in the neighbors’ press statement was wrong, Rizer said.
