New building going up at Indiana Dunes State Park beach:
Construction of the new ‘comfort station,’ is underway
at the beach of Indiana Dunes State Park. The new wedge shaped structure, to
the west of the historic Pavilion, will house toilets and showers. The
concrete pad was poured Thursday, and the basic plumbing is roughed in. The
overall view (top) is from partway up the adjacent dune, with the lengthy
brick wall stretching from right to left at the base of the dune. Pavilion
Partners’ plans call for a second new structure, to the east of the
Pavilion, to house a banquet center. The bathroom/showers building
was not included in the previously released concept artwork of the
conference center.
