Know the rules on political signs

Back To Front Page

Chesterton Building Commissioner Mark O’Dell is reminding political candidates and their supporters to know Town Code when it comes to the placement of political signage.

In general: in yards fronted by sidewalks, signs must be placed behind the sidewalk. In yards without sidewalks, signs must be placed at least 10 feet away from the shoulder of the roadway.

Signs found in violation of Town Code will be moved to acceptable placements once, O’Dell told the Town Council at its meeting Monday night. Signs found in violation again will be removed.
