The Chesterton High
School Trojan Guard competed in Plymouth High School’s annual Harvest
Festival of Bands over the weekend.
The Trojan Guard
performed the 2017 production entitled, “Bridges to the Gods,” receiving
third place with their highest score so far this season at 70.525. Finishing
in second place was the 181 member Marching Kingsmen of Mishawaka Penn High
School who scored a 78.457.
Top honors in the
Class “A” competition went to the 192 member Crimson Marching Band from
Goshen High School who earned a 79.200. The fourth place trophy in Class “A”

Marching Band Regional
The CHS Music
Dept., with assistance from the CHS Band Boosters, will be hosting the
Indiana State School Music Association’s Northern Marching Band Regional
competition at CHS on Saturday, October 14. CHS is one of four schools to
host this event across the state. The contest determines which Open Class
bands are eligible to move on to the ISSMA semi-state competition. These
semi-state events will be held at four additional sites in the Indianapolis
area on Saturday, October 28. The top 10 bands from each class (A-D) will
then move on to the State Championship competition in Lucas Oil Stadium on
Saturday, November 4.
host the Class C Regional competition beginning at 11:00 a.m., and the Class
A competition beginning at 5:30 p.m. An awards ceremony will begin at 8:06
alumni, parents of alumni, friends and fans are encouraged to get in touch
and get involved with the program again as part of the ISSMA Regional staff.
“Help is needed every year in order to make an event of this size
successful. One of the very best parts of hosting this regional is the
chance to reconnect with so many members of our extended band family,” said

The next home
half-time performance by the Trojan Guard will be on Friday, October 6, when
the CHS Trojans take on the Bulldogs of Crown Point.
October 7, the Trojan Guard will travel to Ft. Wayne Homestead High School
to compete in the Indiana State School Music Association’s State Preliminary
competition. The band’s performance will begin at 1:36 p.m. (EST).
