Back To Front Page

The Duneland School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the intent of approving a proposed three-year superintendent of schools contract for Dr. David Pruis.

Pruis has been Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Human Relations of the Duneland School Corporation since July 2003. Previously he was Superintendent of Schools in Hamilton County for four years and Union-North United School Corporation Superintendent of Schools for seven years.

The contract as it was proposed at a public hearing on April 4 would begin on July 1 this year and end on June 30, 2016. The listed base salary is $145,000 annually and includes a benefits package. The current superintendentís salary is $128,906.

The proposed contract appeared in the Chesterton Tribune on Monday, March 25, as a legal notice.

The board will get an update on the Health and Wellness Center for DSC staff. Members had voted 5-0 earlier this month to reject the bids after they came in higher than expected for the renovation of the old Instructional Materials Center on Fifth Street.

The meeting will be held at the DSC Administration Center, 601 West Morgan Ave.
