Chesterton High
School Family Theatre (FT) will present “Space Journey: A Journey Through
Space!” written by 2009 CHS Graduate Tom O’Neill and directed by Anne Sharp.
In talking with CHS
English teacher and FT Director Anne Sharp, O’Neill realized that she was
having a hard time selecting this year’s FT play. “She just wasn’t finding a
script that would include enough student characters, so I told her I would
write one for her,” said O’Neill. “I don’t think she believed me, but I sat
down and wrote it. I submitted it to her and she liked it,” he added. After
several re-writes the show was finally ready to go into production.
This is O’Neill
first production of a full play. When he is not working or writing, he
enjoys acting at the Chicago Street Theater in Valparaiso.
An adventurous crew
of space explorers find themselves in the middle of an age-old conflict when
they make an accidental detour into another world. A now desperate crew must
embark on a journey to repair their ship and leave, but limited time forces
them to get more involved with the local fighting than they bargained for.
The crew scramble to escape this hostile world in a goofy, light hearted,
fourth-wall-breaking family comedy for all ages.
