School board to review 2015 budget, ISTEP scores, public hearing for rainy day fund

The Duneland School Board will convene on Tuesday, not Monday, at 6 p.m. inside the DSC Administration Center at 601 W. Morgan Avenue in Chesterton.

The board will continue its yearly budget work with a preliminary review by Dunelandís Chief Financial Officer Lynn Kwilasz.

A public hearing for the proposed budgets will not be Tuesday. It is scheduled for the School Board meeting on Sept. 8.

There will be a public hearing on Monday, however, on an additional appropriation for no greater than $185,000 in its rainy day fund to be used toward purchasing a new delivery truck with a lift gate and an emergency generator for the school corporationís Special Services building.

After the hearing, the board will vote on a resolution for the additional appropriation.

Also on the agenda, the board will hear from Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Jim Goetz on the results from last springís ISTEP testing which were released this past week.

Duneland Superintendent of Schools David Pruis will also make comments on things going on in the school district.

The board will also vote on a consent agenda which includes the personnel report.
