Liberty Elementary student tests positive for C19

A Liberty Elementary School student has tested positive for COVID-19, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) reported after deadline on Wednesday.

The student was in the hybrid L-Z group, but the school--citing HIPAA and FERPA--released no further information regarding the student or staff.

DSC, in consultation with the Porter County Health Department, has conducted contact tracing and all persons who were in close contact with the student--within six feet for 15 minutes or longer--have been notified directly.

Liberty Elementary School was “deep-cleaned and sanitized” Wednesday night and re-opened for classes this morning.

Under the DSC re-entry plan, those who’ve been in close contact with a person who’s tested positive for COVID-19 must quarantine for 14 days from the last contact with that person; while siblings and household members must also quarantine for 14 days.
